The dictionary defines promise as, 'A verbal commitment by one person to another agreeing to do (or not to do) something in the future'
In the days gone by, it was apparently very important to keep one's word, promise or commitment. It was not to be taken lightly. A promise was not to be broken. It was almost a crime to let down those who depend on you.
How important is it in today's world, I wonder. Whether it is the commitment of marriage or a promise to meet a friend. Plans maybe cancelled if someone or something better comes along.
Is it all about convenience?

People whether they accept or not think about themselves more than anybody else in this world. So keeping a promise is only based on convenience or a passion to sound good in other people`s thoughts.
