Dusshera Gombi

I realise it's almost a month since Navaratri. I finally found time to upload the image of the Navaratri gombi placed at my home.

The central piece is white mud idols of Sri Rama, Sita and Hanuman. They belonged to my paternal grandmother. The idols are at least 65-70 years old. There is a pleasant smile on their faces and the red and gold colors on it are intact. Well, we take care not to smudge them. We wrap them in pieces of old silk cloth and place in a box safely in the attic.
In between the Rama and Sita idols, you can see the wooden dolls. I used gold and silver coloured paper to make 'ornaments' and 'clothes' for them.

Next to Hanuman idol and behind the 'Kalash', there are the wooden idols of Krishna, Subhadra and Balabhadra as it is seen in Puri (Jagannath). Only two of them are visible in this picture. It was gifted by my mother's friend who had been to Puri.

To the right of the 'Kalash', there is a cow and calf (mud idol). To the left there is a porcelain Shiva and Nandi and a wooden Ganesha. Again to the right- A kitchen set!!!
