Favorite Christmas Quotes

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.

Electronics and Communications Engineering

I spent 4 precious years working hard and studying towards getting a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. I had to move to a different city to achieve this end. Did I say 'achieve'? It doesn't feel like an achievement though.
Now what am I doing for a living ? Testing Software in a huge multinational services company.....Testing User Interface(UI) of a software application.

This job only requires 12th pass, some common sense and logic. Definitely not an Engineering degree.. Ugh !!

I am Thankful

I am thankful for my caring parents, my wonderful husband and the rest of my loving family.
I am thankful for good health, food to eat and share, warm home to live and have guests over and a good night's sleep.
I am thankful for my job and my friends.
I am thankful to Nature which gives air, sunlight, water, warmth, trees, plants and all that we need to live.
I am thankful for the 15 minutes commute to work and for the time that becomes available to me due to that.

Na Mrugam, Na Maanusham

'Sri Ramani Kara kamala poojitha chaaru charana Saroja Brahma
Sameera Vaani Phaneendra Veendra Bhavendra Mukhavinutha
Neeraja Bhavandodaya sthithi karanane Kaivalya Dayaka, Narasimhane namipe
karunipudu emmage mangalava'

Today is Narasimha Jayanthi. The day is celebrated to mark the occasion when Lord Narasimha emerged from the pillar for Prahalada. To keep the word of his dear devotee Prahalada who said with great conviction that the Lord who is everywhere is also in the pillar.

To keep the word of Brahma who promised Hiranyakashipu that he will not be killed by a man nor an animal nor by a weapon nor by a rakshasa nor by a devata. Neither will be killed in the day nor in the night, neither inside the house nor outside it, neither on earth nor in the sky. The arrogant Daitya thought he was invincible and immortal.
The Lord made this avatara out of mercy to all his devotees. This is the only avatara which was only for one event i.e. saving Prahalada by killing Hiranyakashipu . In the Raama and Krishna avataras the Lord showed many leelas.
The Narasimha avatara is important to realise 'vyaptitatva' of the Lord.

'Ellarolu thaanipa thanolagellaranu dharisihanu
Apratimalla Jagadadyantha madhyagala
Balla Bahu guna bharita, daanava dhallana Jagannatha VIttala
Solalisi sthambadindalli Bandha Bhaktanige'

It seems blogging is no longer fashionable. It's Facebook and Twitter. Who has the time to write a lot or read a lot?

I Just Realised....

Not only are most people disappointed when a girl is born, but are also not entirely sad when a woman dies.
It's puthrothsava when a boy is born. When a man dies, 'Ayyo, avana hendathi vidhave aadalu, avana makkalu anaatharadaru!'
If a woman dies before her husband 'olle muthaide saavu!!'. If she outlives her husband, who cares, she's only a widow.

Someone Replied

Finally, someone replied to my 'application' and I landed a job with a huge multinational company at Bangalore. The dream job turned into a nightmare when I saw their 'salary breakup' but I hope the work is good.

A Good Joke

A mouse was dancing & enjoying in a Lion's Wedding. An Elephant was
surprised to see this and asked: Hey Buddy, Why are YOU dancing &
enjoying so much?

Mouse continued enjoying & dancing & replied calmly: You may not be
knowing, but before my marriage, even I was a Lion.

Being a housewife brings with with it the side effect of boredom... How long can I play Solitaire???? Till my arms start aching is the answer.

I checked the paper for some art, music classes.. None of them are conducted during weekdays which is when I have time... Let me keep checking...

Home-Maker!!

I never thought I will enjoy being a housewife or should I say 'homemaker'?? What's more I never thought I will do all the chores at home including the dishes, sweeping and mopping. I imagined myself juggling home and work. I fired the maid who didn't turn up for 15 days out of 20.. I thought in the time I wait for her to come, I may well finish the work. I am doing ok so far.. It's a good way to spend time, get some exercise and save some money!!! I was inspired by one of my friends who lived abroad for sometime and came back here. She was used to doing the housework by herself and continues to do so..

Sick Of Films, TV and Paper

Will some girls do anything to be on television?? Even queue up to marry a drug-addict, wife beater??

My brother used to call me moral police.. I wish I was and I wish I had some power. Why are half naked girls invading my house through the television and newspaper?? What's that new film starring AB and why is he surrounded by such girls. I thought at least he was a decent guy but I guess not anymore.

Will some people do anything for 15 seconds of fame?

God Help Us

Auto drivers and bus conductors of Bangalore are notorious. Some of the bus conductors of BMTC are terrible.. Most of them don't give change to the tickets..
I had to complain about one such horrible conductor at the Shivaji nagar bus terminus. He was almost harassing all the passengers who didn't give exact change. He was talking very rudely.

Why are there such horrible people around us.. Or why do I come into contact with such people???

Where Are The Good Role Models?

There is a lack of good role models today. That's perhaps the reason why our youngsters looks upto film stars. In our generation and the one before there were freedom fighters and statesmen who stood for character, courage and idealism. Today there are hardly such people we can look up to.. The television has not only invaded every home but watching television has become the main activity among us. To gain TRP, TV channels show the glamour people and their inane ways.

Never Seen The Sun Rise

I hate my habit of waking up late every morning. I would like to get an early start to the day but I can't help tucking in even after 7! The cold weather is making it even more tempting to sleep in.

Idiots Really

I didn't think the film '3 Idiots' was all that good. It's just 100 jokes put together without any plot or characterisation. Some jokes are quite old. Some scenes were totally unnecessary. After TZP, Aamir Khan has raised the expectations from his audience. Ghajini and 3 Idiots didn't rise to meet them.

The 'Outsiders'

Is anybody surprised by the some recent and some old incidents against Indians at Australia? Well, I am not. Have you seen how our people behave when they are in a different state within India? They form their own lingual groups and talk loudly in their language in public. They don't mingle with the locals and worse they complain about the city they have made their home. I am referring to Bangalore. The Kannada people maybe quiet and peace loving and may ignore such insensitive, discourteous people but I am sure Australians and Americans are not so..
They may have tolerated till now but when they see that these 'outsiders' are also taking away their jobs, they are bound to react.....
