Sameera Vaani Phaneendra Veendra Bhavendra Mukhavinutha
Neeraja Bhavandodaya sthithi karanane Kaivalya Dayaka, Narasimhane namipe
karunipudu emmage mangalava'
Today is Narasimha Jayanthi. The day is celebrated to mark the occasion when Lord Narasimha emerged from the pillar for Prahalada. To keep the word of his dear devotee Prahalada who said with great conviction that the Lord who is everywhere is also in the pillar.
To keep the word of Brahma who promised Hiranyakashipu that he will not be killed by a man nor an animal nor by a weapon nor by a rakshasa nor by a devata. Neither will be killed in the day nor in the night, neither inside the house nor outside it, neither on earth nor in the sky. The arrogant Daitya thought he was invincible and immortal.
The Lord made this avatara out of mercy to all his devotees. This is the only avatara which was only for one event i.e. saving Prahalada by killing Hiranyakashipu . In the Raama and Krishna avataras the Lord showed many leelas.
The Narasimha avatara is important to realise 'vyaptitatva' of the Lord.
